Professional Qualifications
Mr. Paik's practice centers on the representation of individuals and businesses in the defense of SEC enforcement actions and white collar criminal cases. Formerly a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C. and Hawaii, he has tried over 20 cases to verdict before juries across the United States. For the years 2005, 2006, 2007 and again in 2008, San Francisco Magazine named him a "Northern California Super Lawyer" in the areas of white collar criminal defense and business litigation.
Mr. Paik has over 20 years of experience in handling criminal trials and investigations. In the field of securities enforcement defense and white collar crime, his cases have included securities fraud, insider trading, antitrust, banking fraud, mail and wire fraud, environmental crimes, conspiracy, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Food and Drug Administration crimes, among others.
Mr. Paik has extensive experience in representing individuals and businesses in the litigation of complex civil matters. His cases have included a variety of commercial disputes such as breach of lease, copyright infringement, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, among others.
Mr. Paik has served on the faculty of trial advocacy workshops at the Stanford University School of Law and the University of San Francisco School of Law. He also serves as a mediator and Early Neutral Evaluator for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. In the past, he has served as the President of the Korean American Bar Association of Northern California, co-chair of the Judiciary Committee of the Asian American Bar Association, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee of National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
